What is a Registrar?
A Registrar is an organization or company that is accredited by ICANN
(Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) to provide
registration services.
Affordableinternet.net provides registration
services in partnership with Internet Names World Wide.
How do I transfer my Domain Name from one Registrar to another?
A simple online form starts the transfer process. Your Domain Name
contact receives an e-mail notifying them that you are changing your
registration to Affordableinternet.net service. You will then receive an e-mail from your
current Registrar informing you that a request for transfer from their
service has been made.
Some Registrars require that you respond to this e-mail authorizing the
transfer. Failure to respond may cause a transfer request to be rejected.
What other registration services does
Affordableinternet.net offer?
Your $9.00 annual registration cost includes:
- Domain Manager. Allows you to easily--and directly--control your
Domain Names online, in real time.
- Security. You will have stable and continuous use of your Domain
Names
without worry.
- Highly reliable registration systems and support.
- Toll free customer support. 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Easy upgrades to world-class e-mail and Web hosting services.
Customers with multiple Domain Names receive:
Consolidated billing option for one-parent accounts. You will not
have to deal with separate invoices for each Domain Name registered.
Domain Management. Reporting on demand, contact and DNS (Domain
Name Service) changes and Domain Name renewal management for
one-parent accounts.
Will changing Registrars effect my e-mail or my Web site?
No. There is no impact on the function of your Domain Name when you use
adns
registration service. Your Web site and e-mail will not be disrupted.
How long will it take to change Registrars?
The Change of Registrar process typically takes about six days.
You can verify that your Domain Name transfer has been completed by
checking your information on
Whois.net
after approximately six days.
My Domain Name is about to expire. Can I still transfer it to
Affordableinternet.net?
Affordableinternet.net does not recommend making a Change of Registrar
request on Domain Names that will expire in fewer than15 days. Should any
problems arise, we want to allow adequate time to resolve them before your
Name is required to renew.
Expired Domain Names can be placed "on hold," a situation which would
cause a site to become inaccessible.
If there are problems with my transfer, will I be notified?
Affordableinternet.net will notify you via an e-mail when the change of
registration has failed. The message will contain a description of the error(s), as well as instructions for correcting the problem.
Affordableinternet.net will not bill you for the Change of Registrar
service until the process has been completed.
Can a Change of Registrar request be rejected?
Your current Registrar may require you to reply to an e-mail authorizing
the transfer of your Name(s) from their service. Failure to reply to that
e-mail may cause a transfer rejection.
The losing registrar has the ability to reject a Domain Name transfer
request for several reasons:
- The transfer request was initiated within the first 60 days of the
original registration date.
- There is a legal dispute over the Domain Name.
- There is a pending bankruptcy of the Domain Name holder.
- There is a dispute over the identity of the Domain Name holder.
- At the discretion of the losing Registrar.
- If the registration is the subject of a litigation matter or
trademark.
- If the Domain Name is "on hold" for any reason.
What do I do if my transfer request is rejected?
If your Domain Name is involved in one of the above
mentioned situations, you must resolve the mater with your current Registrar
prior to moving your Domain Name to Affordableinternet.net
Can I change other Domain Name information when I request my transfer to
affordableinternet.net?
No. Once your Domain Name transfer is complete (after about six days),
you can make modifications online quickly and easily from your Domain
Manager.
Do I need to host my Domain Name on
Affordableinternet.net name servers in order to use
the registration service?
No. There is no requirement to be hosted in our data centers, however
Affordable Web Solutions offers comprehensive solutions for Web site hosting
and dedicated servers that you may be interested in.
